2018 is full of exciting plans....
Hello, a happy belated New Year and welcome back to my blog in 2018... I seem not to have been able to find the time to write anything down for so long, its been crazy busy and lots of exciting things have been happening.
International Jewellery London
IJL2017 in London was a really interesting experience, meeting lots of new gallery owners and other jewellers who are on the verge of their jewellery careers taking off in a big way. It was humbling, and frightening, and I realised how far I have to go but I think I am making a good start. Well, I hope I am. Commissions
I had some lovely commissions before christmas, 18ct gold earrings in couple of designs from my Monolith range, a bespoke mix link necklace and various rings; silver rings seem to be very much at the top of peoples wish lists. Gold is such a luxurious material to work with. I love the richness of colour and the beautiful surface texture it takes on, which catch the light and transform the design.
Exciting new Galleries
I have been asked to join 2 new galleries in Leeds and Newcastle for 2018. This has been a great boost for my confidence and hopefully my business; word is starting to spread. Sometimes, working away in my studio at home, it can feel like the world has deserted me and the reason for making jewellery becomes obscured. The affirmation of a gallery wanting to show my work means so much to me.
2018 Shows
This year I am showing at "Made by Hand in Cheltenham" in March and "Contemporary Craft Festival at Bovey Tracey" in June. It's really exciting to be showing here again, as my first big show was Bovey and I was so nervous about it. All the stand holders around me were lovely, Penny Little Ceramics, Maggie Moo designs, Mitch Pilkington Ceramics to name but a few. I have new work which I am excited to show this year; I have been playing around with oxidising silver and I love how it looks in the mixed pieces with gold. The gold really stands out and looks very contemporary. Finally, I have my jewellery on show in London. I am now part of the fantastic group of jewellers at JeDeCo, located on the South Bank at the OXO Tower, and my work will also be appearing on the website shortly. That's all for now, thanks for taking the time to read all my news, please drop me a line to say hello if you are visiting and I would happily show you around my new studio.
