Inspired by the tiny details of lichens I find growing all over the hawthorn and blackthorn around the Cornish coast, the gold mini lichen cluster studs are beautifully detailed and perfect for wearing everyday.

The thickness of gold plating on jewellery is noted in microns and determines how long the gold plating lasts with use. Different thicknesses of plate have different names: gold plate is a thickness greater than 0.5 microns and heavy gold plate or vermeil is a thickness greater than 2.5 microns. For earrings, anything from 1-2 microns of gold plate is the norm. If there are moving parts, 3 microns of gold vermeil is applied. For jewellery which takes more wear such as chains, rings and bracelets, 4-6 microns of heavy gold plate or vermeil will make the piece last. The thickness of the gold plate effects the price of the jewellery and you will find that each piece of my jewellery comes with a note describing this.
