HEXAGONAL GOLD SEAM EARRINGS
HEXAGONAL GOLD SEAM EARRINGS
Hexagonal silver and gold earrings, inspired by the Norwegian Coast.
The outline shape of these earrings was inspired by a boat trip in the north or Norway seeing the incredible coastal rock formations. I loved the sparse landscape and the texture of the bare rocks.
I make these earrings by reticulating silver sheet, cutting it to the shape I require then soldering the gold to the surface. Finally I add handmade ear hooks and polish the piece ready to wear.
Reticulation is a process of heating and ‘pickling’ the sterling silver a number of times until the pure silver has come to the surface. Consequently, the silver starts to melt and run into beautiful forms reminiscent of sand moulded by water on beaches as the tide goes out.
