Marquise cabochon Peruvian blue opal on silver chain
Marquise cabochon Peruvian blue opal on silver chain
Handcrafted necklace featuring a marquis cabochon Peruvian blue opal on silver chain.
Available from Penwith Gallery, St Ives.
Found only in the Andes in Peru, the blue opal in this necklace has beautiful dendritic details reminiscent of summer rock pools and holidays by the sea. It is set in a rub over setting on a simple handmade silver necklace to highlight the inclusions in the stone.
This stone is a marquise cabochon of Peruvian blue opal, the colour is said to look like the Caribbean sea but I think it looks very much like the coves around Cornwall in the summer when the sea turns a stunning turquoise and the rock pools team with life.
The stone is said to encourage creativity, soften the effects of stress and brings courage. You can read more about Peruvian Blue Opals in my blog
