Dendritic agate ring with etched bird names
Frame set dendritic agate ring, contemporary Cornish jewellery.
Available from The Pyramid Gallery, York.
The inclusions in the stone are reminders of seaweed and lichen forms just as the surface of the silver shows marks of the making process and the hands that formed it.
Dentritic Agate is characterized by iron oxide or manganese inclusions which look like seaweed or branching lichens. It is said to help you persevere and be more patient by creating a more peaceful environment.
Handwritten names of endangered birds texture the surface of this handcrafted silver ring. Inspired by reading The Running Hare by John Lewis-Stemple and Rewilding by Isabella Tree, I researched the Red Lists for names of endangered species of plants and animals. The Talisman Collection is Contemporary silver jewellery inspired by nature, I wanted to create a contemporary jewellery collection that calls to mind the names of those diminishing lives as a way of remembering them and holding them in our consciousness.
