Rock pool brooch with Peruvian Blue Opal

Rock pool brooch with Peruvian Blue Opal

£390.00

Silver Rock pool brooch, inspired by the Cornish coast.

The inclusions in the stone are reminders of seaweed forms just as the surface of the silver shows marks of the making process and the hands that formed it. The pin is hand forged silver and fits through the ‘ripples’ around the opal.

Found only in the Andes in Peru, the blue opal cabochon in this rock pool brooch has beautiful dendritic details and a tiny yellow mineral growth both of which are reminiscent of summer rock pools and holidays by the sea. It is set in recycled silver with a hand forged pin. The simple setting highlights the natural beauty of the stone.

The colour of the Peruvian Opal is said to look like the Caribbean sea but I think it looks very much like the Cornish coast in the summer when the sea turns a stunning turquoise and the rock pools team with life.

Genuine Peruvian Blue Opals are only mined in the Andes and are held in great regard as the country’s national stone. The stone is said to encourage creativity, soften the effects of stress and brings courage. You can read more about Peruvian Blue Opals in my blog
