Silver Talisman shawl pin
Silver Talisman shawl pin
Recycled silver Talisman shawl pin etched with lichen names.
Based on the design of a Celtic shawl pin, this design is etched with the names of lichens found around the British Isles. Both sides are handwritten and then etched to leave a beautifully textured surface.
The pin is longer than the diameter of the circle which is what holds it in place. It can be worn on a cosy jumper or your favourite shawl or wrap.
The Talisman range was originally inspired by reading ‘The Running Hare’ by John Lewis-Stemple and ‘Rewilding’ by Isabella Tree and my subsequent research of red list species.
Each Talisman Brooch is etched with the names of rare species of flora and fauna that are endangered and/or extinct due to human behaviour. I wanted to create a contemporary jewellery collection that calls to mind the names of those diminishing lives as a way of remembering them and holding them in our consciousness.
