TALISMAN BROOCH INSPIRED BY ELEMENTAL LICHEN FORMS
This beautifully handcrafted, etched brooch speaks of the details of our natural environment. The design is inspired by the elemental forms within the oval, faceted Peruvian blue opal; the silver is written with the names of lichens, lightly etched to tell of their declining populations.
Fastening with a double long silver handmade pin, this brooch would look beautiful on a cosy jumper or jacket.
My Talisman project is about lost words and species on the edge of extinction – wild flowers, birds, heritage apples, sea grass and, of course, lichen. They are Talisman pieces of jewellery to be worn and loved and remind the wearer that nature is important. We are part of nature, not separate from it, and we all need to take more care.
